Aging is a normal phenomenon but most people look older than their age. If you’re looking older than your age then you might need to evaluate your daily routines. The way you sleep, eat and even sit make a huge impact on how you look and how quickly you age.
Here we’re going to talk about the common habits that contribute to you aging and suggest ways to help reverse the process.
1. You sleep with your face on the pillow:
Crease lines caused by your face being smashed into the pillow can become permanent and cause wrinkles which quickens aging because your skin isn’t smoothing out as fast as it used to. So it’s advisable to sleep on your back or buy a satin pillowcase.
2. You sip drinks through a straw:
Just as squinting eventually causes wrinkles to our eyes, so does pouting your lips cause premature wrinkles around the mouth. Drink your bottled liquids in a cup to avoid the puckering up of your lips.
3. Reduce fat in your diet:
Some fats are necessary for maintaining a youthful feeling and appearance, so only consume heart-healthy fat such as omega 3 fatty acids found in oily fish (such as salmon and mackerel) and certain nuts (such as walnuts and flax seeds). Eating healthy keeps skin supple and plump, thereby preventing wrinkles, and it boosts both heart and brain health as well. Including fish in your meals at least twice a week is highly recommended.
4. You slouch:
Poor posture or slouching deviates the spine from this normal alignment, and as a result, the muscles, disks, and bones become abnormally stressed. The most common reason why people slouch is cause they’re slumped in front of a keyboard for hours on end and this causes your spine to form an unattractive and potentially harmful hunched posture over time. Overtime Pain and fatigue will follow, and possibly spinal degeneration and a permanent deformity. Practice good posture by checking it throughout the day: ear, shoulder, and hip should form a straight line when seated.Practice good posture by being conscious throughout the day: ear, shoulder, and hip should form a straight line when seated.
5. You live a stressful life:
As much as multi-tasking seems to be unavoidable, the stress that arises from it is just not worth it. Stress leads to over tasking your body which causes it to wear down fast. So exercise caution for your daily activities and make sure your schedule has relaxation infused in it.
6. You rarely pass up dessert:
Aside from adding excess pounds to your body, your sweet tooth may also be adding years to your face. The overall effect of too much sugar results in a loss of radiance, dark circles under the eyes, loss of tone, puffiness, an increase in fine lines and wrinkles, and a loss of facial contours (aka fattening up) and increased pore size. Advice for you just pass on the sugary treats if you want to preserve your youthful glow.
7. You sleep for a few hours:
Skipping sleep not only results in dark bags under the eyes, it is also linked to a shorter lifespan. Sleeping for at least seven hours is optimal. Getting to bed earlier and sleeping for the required number of hours takes out years from your face.
8. You wear too much makeup:
Excess makeup does age you. Wearing excessive makeup, especially oil-based products, clog your skin pores and cause outbreaks. In addition, overusing skin products with fragrances, irritating chemicals, and alcohol agents may dry out the skin by removing its natural oils, which causes premature lines and wrinkles. Consult with your dermatologist for guidance.
